The walk on fire is a very important celebration in the Tamil religion. They don't really walk on fire, but they really do walk on incandescent ember, so we don't see flames but we can see the heat, floating and ondulating right under their poor feet. They have to cross the entire area (water awaits their feets after) without showing any fear, or pain.
